The book centers on the the massive crime wave that occurred during the era of the Depression. Depp is reportedly eying the role of John Dillinger, a prominent bank robber during this period. This sounds like the perfect match. Michael Mann needs to have a blockbuster hit after the stench that was MIAMI VICE blew through theaters, and Johnny Depp is just the man to bring the talented director back to HEAT status.
