Why are there so many ads?
Ads are placed on the site to pay for bandwidth costs. Streaming all this media takes up a lot of bandwidth and in order to pay for it I have to place ads on the site. I do realize there are a lot but I try to make them as non-intrusive to the content as possible.
When it comes to ads I do have some rules as to what advertising I will allow. I will
NEVER
put popups, popunders or spyware on this site even though these are the most lucrative forms of online advertising. I like to maintain a site that I myself would visit and will not subject my own site to it.
The videos are loading slow for me.
This could be any number of things. The site is geared around broadband users, while there are some small videos that 56K users could manage, most of the videos are several megabytes in size. However if you are using broadband and have nothing else using your connection then the issue is the server itself. Unfortunately the server is maxed out most everyday and I'm currently working on a permanent solution to this issue.
The videos aren't playing for me. / I don't see any video, I just hear the audio.
This site only houses movies encoded in Windows Media or Quicktime. Make sure you have the latest versions of
Windows Media Player
and
Quicktime
.
I submitted a video but it was never posted.
This can happen for several reasons. All the videos that are submitted are reviewed by either myself or a moderator. Whenever I review a video I like to make sure that it has something worth watching so you aren't spending time watching a whole video that has nothing interesting in it. Sometimes movies are submitted that I just don't find interesting and hence won't put up. Also, if I find a video to be inappropriate I won't put it up. I feel like I'm pretty lax on the content that gets put on the site but I'm not going to let everything through.
Some people have been submitting music videos, which I think is great. However I plan on dedicating a whole section of the site to music videos but will not do so until I am sure I will have enough bandwidth to serve them.
