Box Office: WALL-E on top, WANTED strong in second

June 30th, 2008 | Return Home
This past weekend was a sure money maker for Hollywood. Pixar's animated robot feature, WALL-E, topped with $63,087,526 followed by the wanton comic adaptation, WANTED, with $50,927,085. A dialog-light robot love story and an R-rated bullet fest doing so well, who knew?

In third was GET SMART, bringing its total up to $77,477,031. KUNG FU PANDA came up in fourth with $11,692,061, bringing its total to a healthy $179,276,754. Both flicks had less than 50% drop from last week.

In fifth was Marvel's INCREDIBLE HULK with $9,577,245. Its total now sits at $115,859,210. The disturbing news is the film's weekly drop -- a near retread of the 2003's HULK's performance. The Hulk redux certainly hasn't been the performer Universal and Marvel hoped for and who knows what this portends for the series' future.

And in sixth was Mike Myers' THE LOVE GURU. The faltering comedy added just over $5 million to its total, bringing its cumulative to $25,222,377.
