Box Office: HANCOCK to the rescue

July 8th, 2008 | Return Home
HANCOCK managed to brush off bad reviews and do just what superheroes do -- soared. The Will Smith actioner grossed $62,603,879 in its first weekend, proving, once again, that the actor has major star power. (For those keeping count, it's up to a total of $103,877,446.) Pixar's WALL-E came in second with $32,509,203, bringing its total to $127,196,028. WANTED came up in third with $20,050,070, putting its gross at a healthy $90,186,395. Its 60% drop may be of some concern for the studio, but it has still turned a profit.

GET SMART put another $11 million to its total, bringing it to $98,100,652. In fifth was KUNG FU PANDA got another $7 million, brining up its gross to $193,221,867.
