Ray Park Cast as Snake Eyes in G.I. JOE

posted December 5th, 2007
Ray Park, most recognizable for his portrayal of Darth Maul and Toad from the STAR WARS and X-MEN franchises respectively has just signed up to play Snake Eyes in the upcoming G.I. Joe film.

I have just confirmed that Star Wars Episode 1 star Ray Park has been cast as Snake Eyes in Stephen Sommer’s big screen live-action adaptation of GI Joe.

Snake Eyes is one of the original members of the GI Joe series. Hasbro has released over 30 figures of the character since his debut in 1982. Not much is known about the ninja master’s real identity, as it has remained classified throughout the series. The U.S. Army Sergeant First Class (E-7) is known for his stealth like movements and extensive knowledge of multiple forms of martial arts. Snake-Eyes is romantically involved with fellow G.I. Joe member Master Sergeant Shana M. O’Hara, a.k.a. Scarlett.

Martin Scorsese Takes On Alfred Hitchcock

posted December 4th, 2007
It appears that Martin Scorsese has taken it upon himself to film a "Hitchcock-short" as a part of an advertising campaign for... wine? That's right, Marty is using some pretty clever techniques in order to get you, viewer, to try out some of that tasty alcoholic beverage. The video features a bit of a documentary on the short in addition to the bit itself.

The film is aptly named THE KEY TO RESERVA, so if you've always wondered how a Hitchcock script would look under Scorsese direction, have we got the video for you.

THE DARK KNIGHT Teaser Poster Has Arrived

posted December 4th, 2007
Well, it certainly does tease the movie, you have to give the artist that. Sure, it would have been nice to see some more images of Heath Ledger as The Joker or even Christian Bale as Batman, but it fulfills what it set out to do: get people talking.

THE DARK KNIGHT opens on July 18, 2008. You can see a 5-6 minutes prologue of the film with IMAX screenings of I AM LEGEND, being released on December 14, 2008.
As if Johnny Depp has been in enough blockbusters as of late, The Hollywood Reporter states that he is to team up with Michael Mann for a film adaptation of Brian Burrough's nonfiction book "Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34".

The book centers on the the massive crime wave that occurred during the era of the Depression. Depp is reportedly eying the role of John Dillinger, a prominent bank robber during this period. Previously, Depp was scheduled to star in the Warner Independent films THE RUM DIARIES and SHANTARAM, but these projects were instead pushed back due to the writer's strike.

This sounds like the perfect match. Michael Mann needs to have a blockbuster hit after the stench that was MIAMI VICE blew through theaters, and Johnny Depp is just the man to bring the talented director back to HEAT status.
According to Variety, Sir Ben Kingsley has just signed on to co-star in Martin Scorsese's period thriller SHUTTER ISLAND.

Ben Kingsley has signed on to co-star in Martin Scorsese's period thriller "Shutter Island" for Paramount Pictures.

Leonardo DiCaprio will star as a U.S. marshal who is sent to the remote New England island in summer 1954 to investigate the disappearance of a patient from the island's prison/mental hospital. Mark Ruffalo has already boarded the project. Kingsley will portray the mental hospital's chief physician.

Due out in 2009, the movie takes place in 1954 where U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels is investigating a murderess who's escaped from a criminally insane hospital and is believed to be hiding on Shutter Island.
It would appear that if you wish, you can see the first five minutes of THE GOLDEN COMPASS online before it opens on December 7. It features mainly the stunning Daniel Craig eating what appears to be a marble.

You can view the entire clip in all it's glory here.
